Poem 1: The Man Who Turned into a Top
Jake whirled
around and around
in a sad, lonely
circle for
thirty-six years.
One day
he whirled so fast
that he turned
into a top,
whereupon the
circle immediately
changed into a
happy, beautiful
thing, and Jake
had so much fun whirling
because
it
was not
a
man
anymore.
