The Twenty-Eight Cents for My Old Age
I gave a poetry reading at a bar in San Francisco,
people sat around and drank beer while I read a poem
called Portrait of the Id as Billy the Kid,
when the reading was over I got paid twelve and a half
dollars, but twenty-eight cents was deducted for my old age,
and I walked home alone.
